Antonio, you pictured a very nice portrait of our situation. I strongly agree with you especially when you underline that, despite what is generally said, there are a lot of small businesses trying to innovate and achieve results. It's difficult and our legislation doesn't help us, but we still have the will and the courage to pursue innovation.

Antonio, congratulations for the depth and widht of your analysis, which I totally agree with. On a separate note, I would also add a couple of things: 1) the need of cooperation and cross-contamination is more than ever a priority and it does need to bridge together the world of technology/IT and that of marketing and communication. Advertising is dead, communication has never been so much of a need for companies, brands and people. Communication people need to understand and appreciate the opportunities that technology provides and this is still a big hurdle and resistance for many advertisers and marketing people coming from the stone age!!! 2) the competition and individualism that you can often breath in the italian blogosphere is, I think, also the evidence of a very italian attitude, the so called "campanilismo" that put the individual in front of the group, the "my thing" ahead of the "our thing". Collaboration is a hard effort unfortunately :(

Antonio, great job indeed

A note about the comment of Valerio: I'd rather be more positive. Advertising on the italian web is just starting. the big budgets are near to come, this very year

And we'd have much more resources to count on, in order to develop new initiatives (even if we still need a big change in adv planning...)

Thank you all for your comments :-) I agree with Alberto on the optimism about what is going to happen in Italy in the next months. As MiniBar Italy (http://www.socialmedialab.net/2008/01/29/minibar-line-up-e-nuovi-partner/) showed, things are prepping up and engines are rolling. Now it's up to us to make it happen :-)
